Blog No.119: The Gadget Show

Image
We have decided to change the them of our evaluation due to the little amount of time we have left. Our original theme was to go for a Carpool Karaoke theme, but given the time we have left and quality of the footage so far it would be difficult to complete to a high standard. Therefore we have decided to re-film what content we already have and base it on a new theme. Our new theme is going to be based on the Gadget Show. This will be an OTRAS edition show with the lead vocalist being the front of the show and going through how we made our media products. Today we have shot question 1 and 4. For this we booked out a camera, tripod, mount, dolly and LED with the filters to go over the hardware used for question 4.

Blog No.118: Music Industry (script)

Image
This question might or might not be on the specification but here are the plans for what we could answer. We could probably include this in question 2. Why are these necessary for the success of our products in the music industry? Indie Funk is a niche market. We wanted our products to be completely creative and experimental in order to reflect the new flourishing market. However, we researched examples in order to assure that our art was going to be successful. This is why we've used inspiration from well-known musicians that are independent for a full market view. We focused on researching Mark Ronson since our song was composed by him. We wanted to continue the popularity growth whilst maintaining a unique approach. Given the audience to permission to share the music and the artwork by the use of social media, Spotify and Apple Music logos. We aimed specifically at a young modern audience. These logos will directly address them, which could increase the level of s...

Blog No.117: Evaluation script (question 2)

How effective is the combination of your main product (music video) and ancillary texts (digipak and advert)? Use of bold colours: yellow, orange, red and pink. Experimental text: kinetic typography for our music video and using more than one font for our advert and digipak. The same fonts used would produce brand consistency, they all include a silhouette. Stands out in front of the audience for what the brand represents. Included non-realistic figures (silhouette) to exaggerate a futuristic genre of Indie Funk.  Also encouraged the audience to share ideas of what it represents.

Blog No.116: Evaluation script (question 1)

Image
These scripts are rough ideas on what we could mention in our answers. Grib and Tommy filmed the opening of the evaluation yesterday and managed to complete the first questions. Before they left, however, they booked a GoPro from the media department and filmed the scenes using a GoPro and each other's phones. Using big equipment to film in the car would be difficult, which was why we wanted to use small technology for filming. In what ways does your media product use, develop or challenge forms and conventions of real media products? Digipak Use From the front cover we used images with the album name in a large text font. Also included the deluxe edition as it includes the music video. Has all songs on back cover. Includes production company on the spine of the product. Develop When including the songs we've put them inside the silhouette's head on the back cover. CD is included by viral look alike. We have main images but we have developed ...

Blog No.115: Plan for the weekend

Image
We agreed that we would also complete a question or two this weekend, probably Saturday since some of us are busy on Sunday. The plan is that Tommy will pick up Grib and I at 2pm on Saturday, drive nearby Monkseaton metro station and meet Charlie there. In case we don't bring the GoPro with us we can still be able to use our mobile phones for filming the evaluation. On the other hand, Charlie is going to bring the scripts on how to answer the remaining questions. We don't have to wear or bring any stylised costumes (except sunglasses) we are just going to wear casual clothing for the shoot.

Blog No.114: Starting tomorrow...

Image
Today we were coming up with further ideas on how we could set the evaluation and when we're going to start filming. We thought tomorrow would be a great start. Grib, Tommy and I have free lessons from 9:15 to 11:30am except Charlie. We're going to use a GO-Pro for filming inside the car since it would be hard to film with a full camera. We're going to use Tommy's  car and (since there's four of us) each of us will answer one of the four questions. Charlie said it will probably take a school day to complete one of the four questions. Therefore, we might not be able to complete one of the questions tomorrow since we're just getting started.

Blog No.113: Carpool Karaoke

Image
This is the third plan for our evaluation. Since it would be difficult to answer and explain the questions during a game show, we thought our evaluation could be based on a Carpool Karaoke. From the example (above), this setting involves the host being interviewed, therefore, Grib would be the host since he's the lead singer in our music video. It's likely that the driver would be Tommy since he knows how to drive. Furthermore, we're going to include more actors who are our potential target audience. They could feedback on the music video, advert and digipak - what they like and don't like.
