Blog No.48: Target audience (first example)

Pharrell Williams - Happy
Class
All of the actors wore costumes or uniforms that represent their job occupation. At 0:35, one was wearing a shirt and tie resembling him as a manager or an accountant, of which this appeals as a middle class job. The fireman at 0:39 could appeal to both working and middle class. And the man at 2:43 clearly represents the upper class as he is wearing a tuxedo. Overall, this song appeals to all classes.

Age
Since this music video didn't include any slang or inappropriate language, it would be suitable for a young audience. The video involved children, teenagers and adults which can be evident as to who this music video is aiming for. Although there weren't any elderly actors depicted, the video might or might not appeal to elderly people. Furthermore, they might prefer classic music instead of the Pop genre. In my opinion, the suitable age for "Happy" would be between 9 and 40.

Gender
This music video appears to target at a gender-shared audience. Although the original singer is a male, both male and female actors mimic the lyrics of the song.

Ethnicity
As this music video targets a gender-shared audience, it also targets all ethnic groups: white, black, religious, etc.
