Blog No.73: Advert analysis (second example)

Example: 2
Colour
This poster of Bruno mars has used a pink splattered paint effect in order to catch the viewers attention and draw the eye to the darker portrait of the singer in the middle of the page. The pink really adds to this poster and makes it appealing to all audiences as the artist, Bruno mars is a worldwide artist with a very wide target audience. So this poster stands out and appeals to all. Bruno mars himself is featured in a white shirt with black jacket. This adds to the pink as both the black and white contrast with the bright pink, which in turn really makes the poster stand out and catch the eye of anyone who sees it.The pink tie that Bruno is featured wearing also links into the pink effect within the poster which links the two together and matches well with the pink effects.
In our poster we are looking to use one main colour to make the poster stand out as well as representing our genre. Currently we are considering either a yellow or and orange but this could change. This will enable our poster to be eye catching just like his Bruno mars poster is .

Images
This poster feature a picture of Bruno mars from the waist up. In the image Bruno is featured performing this ties in very well with the posters meaning. As the poster is promoting an upcoming performance. So this images really ties in well with the information the poster is representing.
For our poster we are thinking of using a silhouette which will link into to the brand we are attempting to create around the idea of the silhouette. Which is already featured in the bands music video and in our initial ideas for the digi pack, will also feature in some way on the digi pack.

Font
The font in this poster is relatively standard with a few words such as ‘grammys’ in the same font as the logo. However the thing that is noticeable about the text in this example is that the most important pieces of information is represented in bold text. This really makes the most important pieces of text stand out from the rest. Also the most important information is in the biggest fonts which makes it stand out and at a glance is what the reader will read first.
We will look to use the bold font idea in our poster in order to outline the most important pieces of information regarding the album. We will also incorporate the idea of using the largest font for the most important pieces of information. By using both of these techniques we will be able to divert the readers attention to the most important information.

Layout
This poster has filled the centre section of the poster with an image of the artist, surrounded by a pink paint effect with text at the bottom of the advert. This layout is effective as the image coupled with the pink effect draws the readers attention to the poster and then the bold various sized text gives the viewer the information they want to get across, in the most effective and fast way possible.
We are also thinking of using a entrap image with text running across the bottom of the page, As this looks very effective in this example.however this is subject to change as usually conventional posters feature the text across the top of the page.

Language
The language in this example is very simple and to the point. This is effective as people can quickly look at this poster and gain the relevant information very quickly which is the point of a poster.
In our poster we will also keep the amount of text to a minimum by using simple language to quickly convey our message. This will keep our poster quick and to the point .
