Blog No.83: Advert initial ideas
Initial ideas
- This is a rough idea of what our advert would look like.
- There may be things we like, don't like and what we can improve on.
Colour
The beams that are attached to Grib's hands are strips of different colours. These colours could both light and dark colours (yellow, black and orange) of which can target a gender-shared audience. These colours we're going to use represent the many background colours Grib sings in front of in the performance. There doesn't appear to be much art found in the lower half of the advert. We could use colours that are used to portray the name of the band (pink and black). And we could use these colours for other conventions.
Images
The figure in the centre of the advert is Grib's silhouette. Previously, we took inspirations from other adverts. I had said that we were going to display images inside the silhouette, today we've declined that idea and instead we've developed it. Instead of having images of the band inside the silhouette, we could have a massive number of the band name OTRAS covering the entirety of the silhouette. We've decided this because most of the images of the band were out of focus. However, if we do find out how the display and connect the images inside the silhouette, we'll stick to that idea. As said, we're going to include a couple of images that are social media logos. With these, teenage audiences will be informed of the band's availability on these social networks. In order to further the audience's interest of the band, we could also include a Spotify and an Apple Music logo.
Font
The name of the band and the reviews are all seen in capital letters. Having most of the text in capital letters can further symbolise the band's popularity, it can also make it easy to read. Since the name of the band is going to appear everywhere inside the silhouette, they're going to be depicted using the same font. We could instead use the letters that appear in the name and use a plethora of them to cover the inside of the silhouette.
Layout
Like all the other example, information about the band are displayed at the bottom of the advert. This includes what social medias they're available on, their website and phone number. However, the release date is displayed near the top of the advert. If audiences are interested in the band and want to their album, they'd want to be informed about the release date. All the texts that will cover the silhouette won't be depicted in straight but canted angles. Not much creativity or effect is happening with the text or font. For the band name, we could have replicas of the name in the same font as the original and display behind each other. The coverlines could also be displayed in front of the silhouette. They could also be displayed in a canted angle.
Language
Although star ratings are used, positive vocabulary are also used in this advert to review the amount of succession. Once the audience has read these reviews that include vocabulary (that symbolise magnificence) they'll understand the band's popularity.
