Blog No.79: Advert analysis (third example)
Example: 3

Colour
This example uses mostly light colours (blue, red, yellow and green) these colours will have been used for effect and so that the various silhouettes really stand out and grab the attention of anyone who sees the poster. The faded effect that has been applied in all 4 areas of the poster draws the viewers attention into the middle which is where the title of the artists has been positioned. This use of black against the colourful background has been used for real effect. Since we're including a silhouette of our main singer in the centre of the advert. we could also use this fading effect to draw the readers attention towards the top of the page which will feature both the band name and the main feature of our poster which will be the silhouette.
Images
The adverts only images are 4 silhouettes However, this is very fitting for the plans we have as we are basing our advert around the idea of a solo silhouette. In this example there is two silhouettes that seem to have been mirrored (in the green and blue quarters. The two other quarters are two images of the singer that appear to be stills of the singer while dancing/performing. This looks good as it brings a sense of energy to the poster. Almost like the 4 silhouettes are an example of a performance from Michael Jackson as he featured in some of his most iconic poses. from this we can take the ideas about how our silhouette will be positioned and how it will look. We need to make the decision as to whether the silhouette will look like it is mid performance (like in all 4 quarters)

Font
Only two fonts are used for advertising this musician. The first is a bold font in capitals and the other looks handwritten with lower case letters. The handwritten font brings a personal touch to the advert. almost as though the singer has signed the poster personally. The bold font however bring the attention away from the images into the centre of the page away from the surrounding images. The type of font we could use for OTRAS could be a bold san serif font to draw the attention of the viewer to the word otras, so immediately they know who the advert is about. We could also use the handwriting type font to add a personal touch to the advert however our bran is no where near the size of Michael jackons so it may not have the same effect, but is something to consider.
Layout
The name of the musician is displayed in the centre of the advert, showing exactly who the advert about and that the artist is the centre of attention for the advert. The advert then has been split up in too 4 brightly coloured quarters. For our advert the current plan is to have the silhouette filling the main portion of the page with the name of the band filling the top quarter of the page. we have also planned to include social media sites as well as a possible website kink running along the bottom of the page.
